Dental Prosthesis

At some point your teeth were gone. Perhaps not all at once — but enough that something made had to take their place. A prosthesis. Plastic, metal, ceramic. Something that should function like the original, but is not one. You learn to chew with it, to speak, to smile. You get used to it. And yet — if you are honest — there are moments when you sense it: that is not entirely me. There is something foreign in me that I live with.
