Joint Dislocation (Luxation)

A joint jumps out of position. What held together just a moment ago slides apart — bones that should interlock lose contact. The pain is immediate, sharp and paralyzing. The joint swells, can no longer move, and every touch becomes agony. In an instant, you are unable to act.

Medically, a luxation is the complete displacement of a joint head from its socket. Ligaments are overstretched, capsular tissue tears, nerves are irritated. But the psychosomatic question goes deeper: What had you so wound up inside that a joint — the place in your body that stands for mobility and connection — suddenly springs from its anchor?

A dislocation is not an accident. It is an eruption.
