Rape (Perpetrator Perspective)

Rape is a crime. An act of brutal violence against another human being. Before anything else is said, this must stand: there is no justification, no explanation, no childhood, no trauma that excuses this act. Whoever rapes destroys — the dignity of another person, their sense of safety, their trust in the world. The responsibility lies entirely with the perpetrator. Without exception.

And yet there is a question that must be asked — not to excuse, but to understand what happens in a person who becomes capable of such violence. Not for the perpetrator. For prevention. For the people who sense that something in them has gone profoundly off the rails, and who are seeking help before it is too late. For those who lie awake at night because they know that their fantasies, their impulses, their thoughts touch a line that must never be crossed.
