Inability to Form Words

Also known as: total word-finding disorder · inability to form words · speech formation disorder · word formation incapacity · anarthria
Your Body Is Speaking
You know exactly what you want to say. The thought is there — clear, formed, urgent. But between the impulse and the speaking lies a gap you cannot bridge. Words dissolve before they reach your mouth. Syllables stumble over one another, sentences get stuck, and what arrives is a fraction of what you actually wanted to convey. Or nothing arrives at all.
Medicine knows various forms of this disorder — motor aphasias, dysarthrias, speech apraxias — and searches for neurological causes: brain regions, nerve pathways, muscle coordination. All of this has its validity. But it does not explain why specifically you are affected. Why specifically now. And why your body seals itself off precisely there, where contact is made: at the threshold between inside and outside, between what you feel and what the world gets to hear.
