Tremor in Hands or Fingers

13 min read

Also known as: tremor · hand tremor · shaky hands · trembling hands · hand tremor · intention tremor · resting tremor · shaking hands

Your Body Is Speaking

You reach out your hand to hold a cup, sign your name, press a button — and it won't obey you. A fine trembling runs through your fingers. It isn't strong enough to knock you over, but strong enough that you notice it. Strong enough that others might notice it. Strong enough to give you the uncomfortable feeling that your own body is betraying you.

Sometimes the trembling only shows up when you look closely. When you're supposed to be still. When eyes are on you. Then a small movement suddenly becomes a loud message that you would rather hide. You lay your hand on your thigh, grip the pen more tightly, press your fingers together — and the trembling remains, sometimes even intensified, as if it wants to be seen.
