Strongyloidiasis

Strongyloidiasis is an infection with tiny threadworms that enter the body through the skin — usually through the feet — migrate through the lungs, and finally settle in the intestine. It comes from the warm regions of the earth, from the tropics and subtropics, and it can live in you for years unnoticed. Sometimes it doesn't make itself known at all. Sometimes it shows itself as itching on the skin, as a cough, as abdominal complaints, as diarrhea, as a creeping weakening of the immune system.
