Your Body Is Speaking
It is not only the ground that slips away from you. It is also the clear thought. You stand up, and the world tilts slightly to one side. You move your head, and a soft veil settles over your perception. You try to concentrate, but everything stays strangely muted — as though a layer of cotton had been pushed between you and the world. You are there, and yet not quite. You think, and yet not clearly. You stand, and yet not securely.
This is the specific dual quality of this symptom: not only the body loses its footing — the head also loses its sharpness. Two forms of orientation break away simultaneously. The vestibular sense, which tells you where up and down are. And the mental sense, which tells you who you are and where you belong. Both blur into a dull, uncertain state in which you are neither fully awake nor fully present.
