Schizoid Personality Disorder

There is a space in you that is still. Far away from the others. A place where no one wants anything from you, no one speaks to you, no one touches you. There you are safe. There your thinking, your imagination, your world belong to you. And the longer you live there, the more foreign becomes what happens outside: the faces, the expectations, the loud disorder of human closeness.

You barely need relationships. You do not miss them, at least not the way others miss them. You may appear to others as cool, unapproachable, absent — as if you are present but not entirely there. You rarely show feelings. Some people believe you have none. That is not true. You have them. They only play out elsewhere — in an inner space to which almost no one has access. And perhaps not even you yourself, always.
