Your Body Is Speaking
Apparent death is one of humanity's oldest primal fears. A person lies there — no breath to be felt, no pulse to be found, no response to touch, light, or voice. And yet there is still something. A final thread that has not quite let the soul go. A state between worlds: inwardly no longer quite here, outwardly not yet quite gone.
Modern medicine barely knows classical apparent death anymore — today's diagnostic tools are so precise that a genuine sign of life can almost always be reliably distinguished from actual death. And yet the phenomenon remains relevant as an image, as a symbol, as an inner state. Because there is a form of apparent death you may know without ever having been clinically unconscious: the feeling of having already gone out inside, while the body still functions. Outwardly alive. Inwardly silent. The body standing, the soul already having withdrawn.
