Right Hand Fallen Asleep

It begins with a tingling. Then the hand goes numb, like cotton wool, as though it is no longer part of you. The fingers do not obey properly, you shake them, massage them, wait for the blood to return. Medically this is called paresthesia — circulatory disturbances, nerve entrapments, pressure loading. But when the right hand keeps falling asleep without a clear physical finding, a different question arises: what has this hand lost? Or more precisely: what have you lost — in contact with yourself?

The right hand is your action hand. Most people use it to reach out, shape things, hold on, give, create. When it goes numb, that is no coincidence. It is a signal that your actions have lost contact with your inner core. You do — but you are not present in the doing. You reach out — but into emptiness.
