Your Body Is Speaking

It happens without warning. Suddenly you are no longer there — not unconscious, not asleep, but not present either. Your body moves as if on autopilot, your hands reach into emptiness, your gaze passes through the world without seeing it. Minutes pass, sometimes longer, and when you return, a piece of time is missing. Doctors speak of psychomotor episodes — a form of seizure in which consciousness disconnects and the body continues running in a kind of mechanical emergency program.

Medically, it concerns neuronal discharges, disrupted signal pathways in the brain, diagnoses and medications. All of that has its justification. But there is a second level — one that is rarely asked about: What is happening in your inner experience that causes your system to take the emergency exit? Why does your consciousness switch off instead of staying present?
