Prostate

The prostate is one of the quietest organs in the male body. It sits deep in the pelvis, barely larger than a walnut, below the bladder, closely wrapped around the beginning of the urethra. No man feels it in everyday life. It works silently, unnoticed, in the shadows. And it is precisely there that its symbolic power lies.

Medically, its function is clearly defined: it produces part of the seminal fluid — that medium in which sperm cells survive, move, and find their way. Without the prostate, no fertile semen. Without it, no conception, no transition from one to the other, no physical passing on of life. The prostate is the powerhouse behind the male reproductive act — and yet it does its work in the shadows.

It is not what one sees, but what carries.
