Otitis media

Otitis media — middle ear infection. Pressure behind the eardrum, stabbing pain, often fever, sometimes a dull sensation as though the world has moved a little further away. In children it is one of the most common infections of all — hardly a child makes it through the first years of life without encountering it at least once. In adults it is rarer, but when it comes, it is almost always connected to a phase in which something can no longer be heard. Not physically. Emotionally.
