Occipital Lobe (Problems)

At the very back of your head sits the part of your brain that can see. Not the eyes — they merely capture light. It is the occipital lobe that shapes this light into images. It transforms signals into faces, landscapes, letters, into everything you know as your visible world. When this region is disturbed, the picture blurs. Contours dissolve. Colours shift. Shapes distort, as if you were looking through a fogged pane of glass. Sometimes entire sections of the visual field drop away; sometimes patterns appear that are not there at all.
