Moles / Birthmarks

Moles are so commonplace that most people do not even consider them a symptom. They are simply there — small dark points on the skin, some present since birth, some accumulated over the course of life. Medically they are accumulations of pigment-forming cells, harmless in most cases, occasionally worth monitoring. But why exactly there? Why exactly that many? Why do some change while others stay the same for a lifetime?

The psychosomatic perspective sees something different in moles than dermatological coincidences. It sees markings — places where an inner conflict has inscribed itself into the skin. Not as a defect, but as the visible expression of a field of tension that works deep beneath the surface.

This field of tension has a name: the struggle between belonging and freedom.
