Mucopolysaccharidosis

Inside your cells a quiet process runs — and it stalls. Mucopolysaccharidosis is a group of hereditary metabolic disorders in which certain enzymes are absent or do not work sufficiently. The result: sugar molecules that would normally be broken down and recycled accumulate — in tissues, in organs, in the nervous system. What should flow, dams up. What should be processed, deposits itself. The body can no longer excrete what it no longer needs.

Medicine describes this as an enzyme defect at the genetic level. And that is what it is — biochemically speaking.
