Mucous Colon (Mucous Colitis)

Also known as: mucous colon · mucous colitis · slimy colon · irritable colon · mucus in the bowel · Colon mucosum · mucosal irritation of the bowel
Your Body Is Speaking
Your large intestine is producing mucus. More mucus than necessary. The mucous membranes are working overtime, as if they need to cushion something, to buffer something, to slide a layer between themselves and the contents flowing through you. Medically this is called mucous colon — an irritation of the large intestinal mucosa with increased mucus secretion. Digestive complaints, cramps, a diffuse sense of unease in the belly. No clear finding that explains everything. But a body that is speaking plainly.
The question that arises is not only: what is irritating my gut? But rather: what inside me needs so much protective layering? What is my body trying to cushion itself against? The mucus is a barrier — a soft, slippery layer between you and what you cannot process — not on the physical level, but on the emotional.
