Your Body Is Speaking

The hand trembles when it is at rest. It does not tremble during work, not when gripping, not when holding — but precisely when it should be still. As though a movement that is no longer being performed anywhere is still forcing its way through. Alongside this: a growing rigidity. Steps become smaller, the face less expressive, turning over in bed becomes a task. What once happened by itself must now be thought, planned, willed — and even then the movement often comes hesitantly, haltingly, as though against an invisible resistance.
