Your Body Is Speaking
Medullary sponge kidney is a congenital change in kidney structure — small cavities in the renal medulla, enlarged collecting ducts that form like tiny reservoirs within the tissue. Medically it is considered benign. Many people live with it for years without knowing. Sometimes it shows itself through kidney stones, through recurring infections, or through a diffuse pulling sensation in the flank. Sometimes it doesn't show at all.
