Pulmonary Fibrosis

Your Body Is Speaking

It begins insidiously. A breath that no longer quite fills you. A staircase that suddenly feels harder than before. A quiet rattling in the chest that you first ignore. And then, at some point, the diagnosis: pulmonary fibrosis. Your lung tissue is scarring. What was once soft, pliable, and permeable becomes hard, rigid, and impenetrable. The tiny alveoli that transfer oxygen into the blood are being replaced by connective tissue — by scar tissue. And scar tissue does not breathe.

Medically, this is a remodelling process that increasingly restricts lung function. Psychosomatically, a different question arises: why is your body converting the organ of the breath of life into a rigid scaffold? What is happening inside you that the place where exchange, openness, and vitality should occur is transforming into a fortress that lets nothing in and nothing out?
