Your Body Is Speaking
One morning you discover a patch. Perhaps on your hand, perhaps on your face, perhaps in a place no one sees but you. A small, bright area, bordered by skin that suddenly looks darker, as if it wanted to amplify the contrast itself. At first you think it's a scar, a forgotten scratch, an imagining. Then it grows. Or a second one appears. Or a third.
Leukoderma does not hurt. It does not itch, it does not burn, it blocks no function. And that is precisely what makes it so peculiar: it is a symptom that is only visible — no pain, no restriction, only a change at the surface. Medicine often calls it vitiligo and explains it as an autoimmune reaction: the immune system attacks the pigment-forming cells, the melanocytes disappear, and what remains is an island of skin without colour.
A skin without colour. Read that sentence again.
