Paralysis

You want to — and it doesn't work. The impulse is there, the intention is clear, the command is sent. But somewhere between head and limb, the connection breaks. The arm doesn't move. The leg doesn't carry. The face freezes. The line to the body is severed, even though the will remains unbroken.

Paralysis is the most radical strike a body can stage. Muscles and nerves that otherwise obey every smallest impulse suddenly refuse to execute. What was self-evident a moment ago — grasping, walking, speaking, swallowing — becomes impossible. The world stays as it is. Only your body draws a line and says: this far and no further.
