Your Body Is Speaking

Your eyes have decided to let the distance go blurry. What lies far away — spatially, temporally, in thought — dissolves into softness, as if it were not trustworthy enough to be seen clearly. What is right in front of you, on the other hand, is razor-sharp. Your body has drawn a line: This far I see. No further.

This is no coincidence and no purely mechanical defect. Your body is speaking. It says: I hold to what is near, because the distant frightens me. Nearsightedness is a mirror — it shows you that inwardly you have drawn a radius around yourself, within which you feel safe. Everything beyond it is softened, neutralised, held at arm's length.

Ask yourself honestly: When did you stop looking forward? When did the future become something to protect yourself from, rather than something to move toward?
