Sacrum

Also known as: Os sacrum · sacral bone · sacral vertebrae · S1–S5 · sacral pain · sacrum pain · coccygeal region
Your Body Is Speaking
The sacrum sits at the lower end of your spine — where five vertebrae have fused into a single, massive bone. It is the base on which everything rests. The entire weight of your upper body flows through this bone into your pelvis, into your legs, into the ground. Without the sacrum you could not stand, not walk, not be upright in the world.
When this bone hurts, your base hurts. Not just a vertebra, not a disc, not a muscle — but the foundation itself. The place where your spine anchors into the ground. Language has known this for centuries: "carrying your cross" is something no one says about their shoulder or elbow. The cross — that is the burden that presses at your deepest point. The burden you cannot throw off because you believe it belongs to you.
