Cataract (Grey Star)

The world turns milky. Contours blur, colours lose their saturation, and slowly — often over years — a veil settles over your seeing that makes everything softer, paler, less distinct. Medically, cataract is an opacity of the eye's lens. The protein in the lens changes, becomes impermeable, and light no longer reaches the retina unimpeded. But psychosomatically a different question arises: Why does the very organ that connects you to the world become clouded? What do you no longer want to see clearly — and since when?

Seeing is more than a physiological process. It is the way you relate to the world. Whoever sees clearly faces what is. Whoever veils their gaze is protecting themselves from a reality they experience as too much, too threatening, or too demanding. The clouded lens is not coincidence — it is an answer.
