Karmic Illnesses

Some themes feel older than you. You know this layer in yourself — a heaviness, a conditioning, a pattern that runs through your life without your being able to say exactly when it began. You have worked on it, you have analyzed it, you have processed it with everything at your disposal. And still it remains. Not unchanged — but inexhaustible. As though it were fed from a deeper source than the one you can explain with your biography.

Some illnesses, some fears, some relationship patterns have this quality. They do not feel like "something that happened to me." They feel like "something I came with." A disposition. A tendency. A heaviness that was already there before the first conscious experience began.
