Hypospadias is a congenital malformation in which the opening of the urethra is not located at the tip of the penis but further down — on the underside of the shaft, sometimes even at the scrotum. It is one of the most common congenital anomalies in boys. Medically it is usually corrected surgically, often in early childhood, and the results are generally good.
