Your Body Is Speaking
Your skin grows thick where it should be able to feel. On the palms of your hands, on the soles of your feet — exactly where you touch the world and sense the ground beneath you, your body builds layer upon layer of barrier. Sometimes yellowish and dry, sometimes cracked and painful. Medically, callus formation is a protective response: pressure and friction prompt the skin to thicken. A sensible adaptation — on the surface.
But the deeper question is: why does your body build armour at the very spots made for touch and contact? Your palms grasp, hold, caress, create. Your soles carry you, ground you, connect you to the earth. When precisely these places harden, it's worth looking more closely.
Callus formation is not a cosmetic problem. It is a hardening at the interface between you and the world.
