Skin

Your skin is the largest organ you have. Nearly two square metres of surface, between three and five kilograms in weight — an organ that envelops you completely, from head to toe. And this organ does something no other organ in the body does in quite this way: it shows on the outside what is happening inside. Every other gland, every other membrane, every other muscle works in concealment. The skin works visibly.

It is your outermost boundary and at the same time your first point of contact with the world. It decides what is allowed into you and what stays outside. It breathes, it sweats, it flushes, it contracts, it expands. It reacts to every breath of air, every temperature, every touch — and to every mood. The skin is not a passive covering, but a living register of your inner state.
