Your Body Is Speaking
It starts with a scratching. A burning that feels as though someone has rubbed fine sandpaper across the lining of your throat. Swallowing becomes a conscious act — every bite, every sip of water reminds you that something is inflamed in there. The throat swells, reddens, grows tender. Sometimes fever and fatigue join in; sometimes it remains just this stubborn pain that accompanies you for days.
Medically, a sore throat is a reaction to pathogens or irritants — viruses, bacteria, dry air, vocal strain. The mucous membrane inflames, the body mobilises its defences. From a psychosomatic perspective the question lies elsewhere: What is backing up inside you that is not allowed out? What is burning in your throat that you can neither swallow nor speak?
