Jaundice

Also known as: icterus · jaundice · yellowing of the skin · yellow eyes · hepatitis jaundice · Icterus · elevated bilirubin · yellowish skin · jaundiced · bile pigment congestion
Your Body Is Speaking
Your skin is turning yellow. The whites of your eyes are becoming yellowish. Perhaps your skin itches, perhaps your urine is dark, perhaps you feel heavy, tired, as if poisoned from within. What is becoming visible here is a substance called bilirubin — a breakdown product from the blood that is normally processed in the liver and excreted via the bile. When this cycle stalls, the yellow backs up in the body and pushes outward until it shimmers through the skin.
Medically, jaundice is not a standalone condition — it is always a sign. A sign that somewhere in the interplay of blood, liver, and bile, something is no longer flowing. The causes can be manifold — liver inflammation, a bile blockage, the breakdown of red blood cells. All of this needs to be medically investigated. That is non-negotiable. But the question remains open: Why this congestion, why now, why in you?
