Your Body Is Speaking
Your eyes are protruding. Not metaphorically — literally. The tissue behind your eyeballs is swelling, pushing them forward, and suddenly your face looks different. More watchful. More wide-open. As if you're afraid of missing something. As if you're permanently searching, fixing, monitoring.
Medicine calls this exophthalmus and usually links it to an overactive thyroid, often in the context of Graves' disease. The thyroid produces too much hormone, the metabolism runs at full speed, the body is in constant alarm — and the eyes protrude, as if making this state visible on the outside. A racing heart, trembling, sleeplessness, inner restlessness, a sense of being perpetually driven. And these eyes that stare and stare, as if they were never allowed to blink again.
