First Lumbar Vertebra

The first lumbar vertebra sits at a key position in your body — at the transition between the thoracic spine and the lower back. It is the uppermost vertebra of your foundation, the point where stability begins. From an orthopaedic perspective it bears enormous load: it absorbs the weight of the upper body and passes it downward. When this vertebra causes problems — whether as a blockage, inflammation, wear, or herniated disc — it affects the entire statics of your body.

But the statics of your body always tell a story about the statics of your life. The first lumbar vertebra stands at the beginning of your foundation. It is the place where it is decided whether you stand upright and self-determined in life — or whether you duck, withdraw, make yourself smaller than you are.
