Your Body Is Speaking

Deep in the centre of your brain sits a gland barely larger than a pea. The epiphysis — also known as the pineal gland — produces melatonin, regulates your sleep-wake cycle, and responds to light. Medically, it is an endocrine gland. Psychosomatically, it is something else: a bridge.

A bridge between what you perceive from the outside and what you know inwardly. Between your intellect and your intuition. Between what is measurable and what you feel nonetheless — even when you cannot explain it. The pineal gland stands for the capacity to live both at once: to stand fully in the world while simultaneously having access to a deeper layer within you.

When this gland loses its balance — whether through overactivity or underactivity — it tells you something about your relationship to this bridge. Either you have left one side. Or you have never set foot on the other.
