Your Body Is Speaking

Your body is drawing in on itself. Tissue that ought to be open and permeable is narrowing — vessels, airways, muscles, hollow organs. It gets tighter where it should be wide. What medicine describes as constriction has many faces: a tightness in the chest, a contraction in the throat, a narrowing of the blood vessels, a spasm that obstructs flow. The affected site varies — but the principle remains the same: something in you is shutting down.

Doctors treat the physical narrowing. And that is right and necessary. But there is a question that goes beyond the physical level: Why is your system contracting? Why does your body enter a mode of holding on, closing off, making itself small — as if openness were a danger?

The answer lies deeper than muscles and vessel walls. It lies in an inner posture that you may have carried so long you take it for normal.
