Dyspraxia

You know what you want to do. Your head has the plan. But your hands do not obey. Your fingers miss the grip, your movements stumble over themselves, the simplest actions — opening a bottle, tying shoelaces, fastening a button — become obstacles that other people do not even notice. It is as if your body has forgotten the score it should know by heart.

Medically, dyspraxia is a neurological coordination disorder. The brain plans movement sequences incorrectly or cannot transmit them correctly to the muscles. In the related condition of apraxia, this interruption is almost complete. The causes are organic — brain injuries, developmental disorders, neurological conditions — and every medical treatment has absolute priority.
