Your Body Is Speaking

Your nails are splitting. They tear before they can grow. They become thin, soft, fragile — one small knock is enough and a piece breaks off. You may have already tried oils, special lacquers, biotin and mineral supplements. Some things help briefly, nothing holds. Your body repeats its message stubbornly: something here is lacking substance.

Nails are made of keratin — the same material as hair and the outermost layer of skin. They form a small protective shield at the most sensitive point of your hand: the place where you grip, feel, touch, strike. A healthy nail is hard. It holds what it encloses. It gives the fingertip support and resistance. When it crumbles, the hand loses part of its strength — and the hand is the tool with which you reach into the world.
