Asbestosis

Asbestosis is different from most of the symptoms in this book. It has a clear, physical cause: inhaled asbestos fibres that bore into lung tissue and trigger, over years and decades, a progressive scarring. The lung loses its elasticity, the breath grows shorter, resilience declines. Medically, there is nothing to interpret here — asbestos is a toxic substance, and the body responds to real destruction.
