Your Body Is Speaking
The words are there. You know what you want to say. But between the thought and the mouth something happens — the syllables stumble, the tongue does not obey, the sentence comes out differently than planned. From a medical perspective, articulation problems are disorders of sound formation, speech motor function, the finely tuned interplay of tongue, lips, jaw, and breath. Speech therapy, neurology, ENT — there are good explanations and good treatments.
But there is also a different question. Not: Why does my mouth not form the sounds correctly? But: What in me does not want to be heard?
Articulation problems are rarely just a mechanical failure. They are often the expression of a deep inner conflict between the need to communicate — and the fear of what happens when one does.
