Alcoholism

Your Body Is Speaking

You do not drink because alcohol is strong. You drink because something in you needs something it cannot find in the sober state right now. That is the decisive shift in perspective — and it sounds unfamiliar at first.

In most conversations about alcoholism the focus is on how dangerous the substance is, how insidious the addiction, how hard the way out. All of that is true. But it stays on the surface. It explains the "what," not the "why." And as long as the "why" remains untouched, the drinking returns — under a new pretext, in new clothing, perhaps as another addiction, perhaps as illness, perhaps in your children.
