Your Body Is Speaking

The anus is the end of the digestive tract. This is where what the body no longer needs leaves — processed, transformed, released. It is the place of farewell: what you have taken in, worked through, and made use of is freed, to make room for what is new. Biologically, this is a simple process. Psychologically, it is one of the most profound.

When the anal region causes problems — pain, tension, inflammation, spasms — your body is showing you something about your relationship to letting go. Not the outer letting go of things or situations, but the inner kind: releasing emotions, beliefs, memories, and patterns that have served their purpose and are now allowed to leave.

Anal complaints are the signal of a person who is holding on — to what has long been processed, but not yet released.
